1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible Pro Touring: A Labor of Love

As I stand back and gaze upon my beloved 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible, I am filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. After years of dedication and hard work, this project has finally come to fruition. With its sleek lines, powerful engine, and smooth transmission, this Pro Touring masterpiece is sure to turn heads on the road.

The heart of this beast lies in its 42-pound injectors, pumping gasoline through a Ģ00 4R transmission from Bowtie Overdrive. The block has been carefully decked for higher compression, ensuring maximum power output. But before we dive into the specifics, allow me to share my story and the journey that brought me to this point.

As a complete novice when it comes to car building, I was hesitant to share my project with others, fearing ridicule or criticism for my rookie mistakes. However, after years of research, advice from friends (both in-person and online), and countless hours spent in my garage, I have finally mustered the courage to showcase my creation.

My love affair with Pro Touring cars began when I stumbled upon a documentary about the genre. Fascinated by the unique blend of performance and style, I became obsessed with learning more. As I delved deeper into the world of Pro Touring, I fell head over heels in love with the 1969 Camaro. However, being a bit of a rebel, I decided to opt for its lesser-known counterpart: the 1969 Pontiac Firebird.

My inspiration for this project came from watching the movie Hit and Run, which sparked my interest in building a muscle car. Prior to acquiring this Firebird, I was completely ignorant about cars – I didn't even know how to change a tire! Fast forward to today, and I'm proud to say that I've learned so much along the way.
